Chef Dominic Serratore of Ditto's Grill

I had the honor of interviewing Chef Dominic Serratore as my eleventh interview. Chef Dominic Serratore was born in the Philadelphia area on August 24, 1951. He was born to a first generation Italian father and an English and Irish mother. Chef Serratore was raised very centered around food. Chef Serratore's grandparents were very hands on with cooking, and every family event was centered around food. Chef Serratore's father worked in the bar/ restaurant busine.ss, so Chef Serratore grew up knowing the business. Chef Serratore first started cooking at home with an interest in his Grandma's cooking over so many years, she was a professional chef since the age of 14!

After Chef Dominic Serratore trained at the Culinary Institute of America, he went to New York and interviewed with famous restaurants in the US. Chef Serratore then went to an outstanding 5 star Cafe that I cannot find the spellling for, and was one of the first Americans to work there. He has also worked at Casa Grasanti. At Ditto's Chef Serratore has been co-owner and chef since 1990. He loves preparing the seafood at Ditto's. One of his favorite dishes to make is his Braised Pork, Veal and Beef for homemade pasta. I have a few recipes of Chef Serratore's that I will include in my cookbook.
